Iran Thanks Pakistan for US Mediation Efforts
Iran thanks Pakistan for mediating in the conflict with the US and Israel, following a two-week ceasefire and talks in Islamabad aimed at achieving peace.
Iran has expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its mediation efforts in the conflict with the United States and Israel, following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, on behalf of the Supreme National Security Council, praised Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir for their tireless initiatives to end the war in the region. Pakistan has invited both sides to talks in Islamabad this Friday, aiming to settle disputes and achieve a sustainable peace agreement.
The ceasefire comes in response to a US request for negotiations, based on Washington's 15-point proposal and President Donald Trump's acceptance of the general framework of Iran's 10-point plan. During this period, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible via coordination with Iran's Armed Forces, considering technical limitations. Sharif previously announced the halt in hostilities, highlighting the wisdom and commitment of both parties to advance stability.
Trump confirmed the ceasefire to negotiate a long-term peace agreement based on the Iranian proposal, following talks with Sharif and Munir. However, he warned that the current plan is not satisfactory to the US and that, if no final deal is reached by the new deadline, he will order devastating airstrikes. This development marks a crucial step in diplomatic efforts, with Pakistan playing a key role in facilitating dialogue and preventing further escalation of the conflict.
