This maritime corridor, which links the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans via the Russian Arctic, has seen a 50% increase in transit transportation, indicating a substantial rise in commercial activity. In 2025, the volume of goods transported exceeded 37 million tons, figures that Nikitin described as unprecedented indicators for this route. This surge is driven by factors such as seasonal ice melt, enhancements in logistical infrastructure, and growing demand for alternative global trade pathways, reinforcing Russia's role as a major player in Arctic navigation.
